JTK  & Me

My name is Natalie and I am the chandler and creator of JTK Candle Co.

JTK is inspired by my love of candles and named after my amazing children Jada, Tianna & Kieran who inspire me everyday.

JTK was born during yet another hospital stay in 2021- at a crossroads in my life when I needed something to occupy my mind through a time of difficult physical and mental health.
Working full time was becoming harder to do living with Ulcerative Colitis and Fibromyalgia, my life was working then sleeping, taking meds or at hospital- no enjoyment in my life...no energy for family and friends.

Officially diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 2015 I have since had 9 major operations- including colon removal, complete hysterectomy and stoma’s fitted and reversed.

My life as I knew it had changed completely and I didn’t know who I really was anymore. After recovery- then comes the depression and anxiety. Much harder to “heal”

Although times are still hard, flares can be exhausting on my mental and physical health - I am lucky to be supported by my wonderful husband Jaime, who over the last 2 decades has supported every madcap business idea I have put to him - and relentlessly been by my side through the most difficult time in the lives of our family.

JTK represents our family, a team, creative and artistic. Non conforming and bonded by love.

Find what makes you happy, life is short.

Edenbridge Primary School

A Heartfelt Thanks to Unity & The JTK Foundation🙏
- From Edenbridge Primary School

The Hardship Fund plays a vital role in helping local families navigate tough times. Its purpose is to provide support for families facing unexpected challenges. In addition to this, the fund helps families access important resources, including brand new school uniforms and other necessary supplies for their children.

Unity's generous donation - raised by stallholders and customers at the Eden Artisans Christmas Market - has made a significant impact by helping cover the costs of these critical resources.
Thanks to Unity’s support, families at our school are able to ensure their children are well-prepared for school, regardless of their financial situation. This contribution helps make sure that no child has to go without the tools they need to succeed.

We encourage others in the community to consider donating or volunteering to help continue this important work. Every contribution, big or small, helps strengthen our community and ensures that local families receive the support they need to thrive. Together, we can make a lasting difference.

Thank you Unity & The JTK Foundation 💙

Multi award winning small business

It's a hard being a small business, isn't it?

That's what makes any recognition of your hard work even more heartwarming.

I am truly humbled and grateful tof those who nominate me and to the award committees that select JTK as their winner.

Thank you!

Unity

Our non profit organisation for Kids -
Part of the new JTK Foundation

Every child's school experience is different..

They worry about making friends, struggling with learning... but what they shouldn't worry about is having a clean uniform that fits them.
We all have had hand-me-downs or second hand uniform of some kind - and there is nothing wrong with that.
Some children's growth spurts mean that almost brand new uniforms have to be replaced, meaning parents or guardians have to find funds for new blazers, shirts, skirts of trousers midway through the school year which is expensive.
These discarded uniforms then go on to good homes, almost brand new.

But there are other uniforms, old and worn. Too small. But there are no funds to replace them. Children have to continue wearing them and may face ridicule and embarrassment.
Some parents have to choose between food and heating, or clothing their children. This shouldn't be the case.

The uniform was invented as a symbol of equality, erasing socio-economic differences and fostering a sense of community among students. However, uniforms are expensive, therefore going against this ethos - when many can't afford the items they are forced to wear.

We at Unity aim to help reduce uniform poverty and increase the happiness, positive mental health, and equity of children in our communities.

Look out for local Unity events raising money for Kids in need.

With love, from The Hygiene Bank 💛

Do you remember in March this year, the Eden Artisans held a Mothers Day Market in aid of our project? Well, this event raised over £200 which we put to great use.

Through our charity suppliers In Kind Direct, we purchased kids toothbrushes for 6p each. These were distributed to local children at 3 local primary schools. These schools held assemblies highlighting the importance of good dental hygiene from a young age. Hygiene Bank research shows that the top reason for hospital admissions in England between 5-9 years olds, is tooth decay. We are also aware that access to an NHS dentist is becoming increasingly difficult. We hope the children learned a lot and now brush their teeth regularly (although as a mum I know it may take more than that🤔)

We were also able to purchase 180 Dove deodorants for our school family hygiene bags and a further 90 to fulfill a local food bank request.

Lastly, we were able to purchase larger size nappies for a local foodbank upon request.

As you can see, we really make funds stretch and for us the money raised really does mean a lot to us and how we support our community.

Thank you again to everyone involved. We look forward to seeing how future events run by The Eden Artisans benefit other local organisations.

JTK Candle Co. at Westfield Shopping Centre!

A little pop-up shop

The most exhausting, but exciting week in London with JTK. This is the biggest event I have done with the brand. I don't make new years resolutions - but a 'promise' I made to myself for this year is that I would do one thing, out of my comfort zone, to challenge myself... and this was it. It was difficult, I had bad joint pain and although I was proud I made it - every day I wanted to go home and when I got back to the hotel in the evenings I did cry (every night)!

If you would have told me this time last year, that I would have a 4 day pop-up stall at Westfield in Stratford - I would have laughed you out of town. But look! Pictures for proof!!!!!
